Clause licence

Use the clauses. Do not resell the library.

Licence principles for products in development

SpecWorks clauses are being written to be selected, edited and incorporated into real project specifications and tender documents. Copying them into project documents is the point of the product.

Intended permitted use

The final purchaser licence is intended to allow the licensed user or organisation to select and adapt clauses for its own projects, include them in project specifications and tender documents, and issue those project documents to clients, consultants, tenderers and contractors involved in the work.

What will not be permitted

The licence will not permit resale of the clause books, redistribution of the source library, publication of substantial unadapted collections, sharing outside the licensed user or organisation, or use of the content to create a competing clause database or commercial product.

Project documents are different from the library

A completed specification prepared for a genuine project may properly contain adapted SpecWorks clauses and be circulated to the project team. That is different from passing the editable clause library itself to another person or business for general reuse.

Final terms

The precise user scope, file formats, update arrangements and licence terms will be stated before any clause book is sold. The terms supplied with the purchased product will take precedence over this explanatory page.
