FORMING OPENING IN EXISTING MASONRY WALL
Preliminary checks: Confirm the location, finished opening size, wall thickness, construction and loadbearing status before starting. Check for concealed services and report discrepancies affecting the work.
Stability: Provide temporary support sufficient to maintain the stability of the wall and supported construction throughout the operation.
Formation: Carefully cut the opening to avoid unnecessary disturbance to retained masonry and adjacent finishes. Install the specified lintel with the required end bearing onto sound masonry.
Making good: Form jambs, reveals and soffit accurately. Reinstate disturbed fire stopping, acoustic construction, plaster, skirtings and adjacent finishes to maintain the performance and appearance of the retained construction.
